【貝類的世界】WORLD OF SHELLS

貝類是 5.7 億年前就存在的古老生物群。
貝類有柔軟的身軀、齒舌及圍心腔，而後演化出堅硬的殼，但在演化過程中，有些會把殼藏入體內，有些甚至是退化不見。
貝殼會伴隨身軀成長，由殼口向外長大，所以沒有像甲殼類需要換殼的困擾。

Mollusks are ancient biota that existed 570 million years ago.
Mollusks have a soft body, redula, and a pericardial cavity, and then evolved a hard shell. During the evolution process, some hide their shells in their bodies, and some even degenerate and disappear. The shell will become larger with the body and en­large from the aperture, so thay are not like crustaceans that need to change their shells.

【貝在蘭陽】MOLLUSKS IN LANYANG

蘭陽地區位於印度太平洋及日本地理分區交界，因此有豐富的貝殼多樣性。平原與海岸的棲地豐富度孕育高多樣性貝類；海底為海盆地形以及龜山島特殊的火山島海底環境，使東北角海域成為重要漁場。因此長久以來蘭陽地區一直是臺灣貝類的多產之地。

The Lanyang area locates at the junction of the Indo-Pacific realm and Palearctic realm, so it has a rich diversity of mollusks. The habitat richness of the plains and coasts cultivates a high diversity of mollusks. Its seabed is a basin topography and the exceptional volcanic island seabed environment of Guishan Island, making the north­east sea area of Taiwan a vital fishing ground. Therefore, the Lanyang area has long been a prolific land for mollusks in Taiwan.

【看見貝世界】EXPLORE MOLLUSKS WORLD

貝類廣佈世界各區域，從河川湖泊到海洋，也有用肺呼吸的陸生貝。而他們千變萬化的殼更成了許多人研究及探索貝類的動機。
此區除了介紹陸貝、淡水貝及海貝的主要生態棲地及活體觀察外，也探究一些有趣的貝類議題及知識。

The mollusks appear allover the world, from rivers and lakes to oceans, and landsnails live on land breathe with lungs. Many people are motivated to study and explore mol­lusks because of their variable shells.
Except for introducing the primary ecological habitats and living observation of landsnails, freshwater snails, and seashells, this area will explore fascinating mollusks issues and knowledge.

【貝與歷史人文】MOLLUSKS IN CULTURE

史前貝除了食用也當作器皿、工具、飾物或貨幣。「貝」這漢字零件藏身於身份的「貴賤」、事業的「贏敗」、利益的「賺賠」、榮譽的「贊貶」之中，「貝」代表著人類物質或精神上的慾望。時至今日在社會經濟、生活文化各方面都與貝類生存息息相關。

In prehistoric times, humans ate mollusks and used them as utensils, tools, orna­ments, or currency in addition to being eaten. The Chinese character "Bei" means that the parts are hidden in the "noble and humble" of status, the "win or lose" of business, the "gain and loss" of benefit, and the "compliment and derogatory" of honor. "Bei" represents human material or spiritual desire. Today, all aspects of social economy and life culture is closely related to the survival of mollusk.

在參觀了一系列的展出內容後，想必大家的貝類知識都增長了不少，現在更期望大家能藉由輕鬆與遊戲的方式，來學習複習更多貝類或軟體動物的知識。若你還意猶未盡或是求知若渴，雖然你不是研究人員，但你至少可以做一位貝類的公民科學家。

Learn more about mollusks through a relaxed and playful way. Even though you are not a researcher, you can still become a mollusk citizen scientist when you have the in­terest and perseverance.
